Santa Barbara Life & Style Magazine
Santa Barbara Life and Style Magazine is a magazine based in Santa Barbara that is focused on luxury lifestyle, travel, dining, wellness, and fashion. As Art Director, I oversee the visual direction and design all articles, layouts, and covers from initial layout to final production.
After working within the established visual identity, I led a redesign to give the publication a more contemporary feel. I introduced a stronger typographic hierarchy and more intentional use of scale and white space. The goal was not to create an entirely new identity, but to evolve the existing one while maintaining the elegance of the publication.
before the redesign:
SBLS Magazine was a media sponsor for Santa Barbara International Film Festival (SBIFF) in 2023-2026. SBIFF is one of the largest film festivals in the U.S., drawing over 100,000 attendees. For this event, I designed our promotional visuals, ensuring that the magazine's identity was effectively represented while standing out in a cinematic environment as well as aligning with the festival's aesthetic.
